Paris Taxi Fare Calculator
Use this Paris taxi fare calculator to estimate what a licensed Paris taxi costs in 2026, in euros. Choose a flat-rate airport ride between Paris and Charles de Gaulle (CDG) or Orly, or a metered ride. The calculator applies the official rates set by the Paris Police Prefecture (Préfecture de police), picks the tariff for your day and time, and adds only the supplements drivers are allowed to charge.

How to use the calculator
- Trip type: Paris ↔ CDG or Orly, or a metered ride.
- Arrondissement (airport rides): your Paris district, 1st to 20th.
- Zone (meter): Paris up to and including the Périphérique ring road; suburbs and airports, including Le Bourget; or beyond the taxi zone, such as Beauvais.
- Distance and duration from a map app, plus any waiting time.
- Date, time, booking and passengers.
How Paris taxi fares work
Airport flat fares
Between the 20 arrondissements and CDG or Orly, a fixed, regulated price replaces the meter, in both directions:
| Airport | Right Bank | Left Bank |
|---|---|---|
| Charles de Gaulle (CDG) | €56 | €65 |
| Orly | €45 | €36 |
Left Bank here means the 5th, 6th, 7th, 13th, 14th and 15th, south of the Seine; the other arrondissements are Right Bank. The official texts don’t list arrondissements by bank, so on Île de la Cité or Île Saint-Louis, confirm with the driver. One flat fare covers the whole car. France’s consumer authority (DGCCRF) allows two extras: booking (€4 immediate, €7 in advance) and €5.50 per passenger from the 5th. Service-Public says none, so from a taxi stand with up to four people you pay exactly the flat fare. Luggage is never charged.
The meter
A metered ride starts at €3.00, then adds a price per km, or an hourly rate when the taxi is stopped or crawling:
| Tariff | Per km | Per hour | In Paris | Suburbs and airports |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| A | €1.30 | €39.55 | Mon–Sat 10 a.m.–5 p.m. | — |
| B | €1.66 | €52.56 | Mon–Sat 5 p.m.–10 a.m.; Sun 7 a.m.–midnight; public holidays | Mon–Sat 7 a.m.–7 p.m. |
| C | €1.76 | €43.15 | Sun midnight–7 a.m. | Mon–Sat 7 p.m.–7 a.m.; Sundays and holidays; always beyond the zone |
The calculator uses your departure time; a real meter switches tariff by itself. The minimum fare is €8.00, supplements included.
Slow traffic
Below a crossover speed (about 30.4 km/h on A, 31.7 km/h on B and 24.5 km/h on C), the meter charges by time instead of distance. The calculator assumes the taxi drives at least that fast when moving and bills the rest of your duration as slow time, a lower-bound estimate: real stop-and-go traffic can cost somewhat more.
Worked examples
1. CDG → Saint-Germain-des-Prés
Saint-Germain-des-Prés is in the 6th, on the Left Bank, so it’s a flat €65.00, in 50 minutes or two hours. Six travelers booking in advance pay €65 + €7 + 2 × €5.50 = €83.00.
2. Orly → Le Marais
Le Marais (3rd and 4th) is Right Bank: €45.00 flat, or €49.00 with an immediate booking.
3. Eiffel Tower → Montmartre, day vs. night
Assume 7 km in 25 minutes on a Wednesday:
| Departure | Tariff | Fare |
|---|---|---|
| 2 p.m. | A | €19.48 |
| 10 p.m. | B | €24.90 |
| 2 p.m., 35 minutes in traffic | A | €26.07 |
At 2 p.m.: €3.00 + 7.0 km × €1.30/km + 11.2 min × €39.55/h. Past €25, the driver must give you a receipt.
4. A Sunday ride
The same ride on Sunday at 11 a.m. is Tariff B: €24.90. At 2 a.m. on Sunday (Tariff C), in 20 minutes: €17.38. A public holiday falling Monday to Saturday, such as Wednesday, November 11, 2026, is Tariff B all day in Paris.
Reading the result and your rights
Airport results also show a meter estimate at the suburban tariff. It’s only a comparison: between Paris and CDG or Orly, the flat fare applies. In heavy traffic the flat fare stays put, while the meter bills by the clock: 25 km in the suburbs on a weekday morning costs €44.50 in 40 minutes but €108.12 in 120.
Spotting an official taxi
- A roof light showing “taxi” and the town name, green when free and red when busy.
- A plate visible from outside with the taxi license (ADS) number.
- A lit taximeter showing the rates and the amount due; a green letter L means it carries the 2026 rates.
Use the official taxi stands at airports and train stations, or book. Every taxi must accept cards whatever the amount, and give a receipt from €25 (on request below).
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to tip a Paris taxi driver?
No. The French government’s Service-Public site says a tip is strictly optional. It isn’t part of the fare or of this calculator.
Can I pay a Paris taxi by credit card?
Yes, whatever the amount: every taxi must have a working card terminal. Cash works too; a driver may refuse checks only if a notice says so on the outside of the vehicle.
Is there a flat fare to Beauvais or Le Bourget?
No. The flat fares only cover Paris ↔ CDG and Paris ↔ Orly. Le Bourget is metered at the suburban tariffs, and Beauvais is beyond the Paris taxi zone, always on Tariff C. La Défense and Disneyland Paris have no flat fare either: those rides are metered.
Will I pay extra for luggage?
No. There’s no luggage supplement in Paris, including on airport flat fares. Pets, an airport or station pick-up and a wheelchair can’t be charged either.
Where can I complain about a Paris taxi?
Ask for a receipt: it must show the address for complaints, as must the display inside the taxi. Complaints about Paris taxis go to the Préfecture de police.
